# Penalty Figures

## What it does

### Dated, every time

A figure appears only where SafetyLM holds a value: today the Commonwealth, New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland and the Northern Territory. It always carries the date it was checked, never stands on its own, and the same line goes into the Word export.

### Refused before any model runs

For Western Australia, South Australia, Tasmania, the ACT and New Zealand, a penalty question is declined before any model runs, with links to the regulator and the legislation register. A declined question doesn't count against your daily limit.

## No figure is better than a wrong one.

1. ### Ask about a penalty Name the jurisdiction in your question, or choose it first. Without one, SafetyLM asks before it answers.
2. ### Look up what's held SafetyLM checks the penalty unit values it holds, each recorded with its legal source and the date it was verified.
3. ### Decline where nothing is held Where no value is held, it says so before any model runs, and the question doesn't count against your daily limit.
4. ### Show the figure, dated Where a value is held, the answer shows it with its date, and the same line goes into the Word export.

### A six-month limit

A held value more than six months past its verification date fails our release checks.
